It's the Water

Ask someone that's been to the Voyageurs area why they go
and what
brings them back...many say it's the water.
Not from the tap or from
that plastic bottle but the lure of the lakes and
rivers. The smallmouth bass
that jumps beside the boat, the bear swimming between islands, the spray in
your face on the boat trip home, that eagle that snatches that
unbelievably
snatched that fish, It gets in your blood...and
your mind and your soul.
It's a powerful force that will draw you
back again and again.
 |
The cold spring water - there when the ice starts
to melt. The plants, trees, fish and people rejuvenated.
|
 |
The warm summer water that makes for good fishing, awesome house
boating, water-skiing and boat rides and
brings us some of the most gorgeous sunsets. Wildlife is
everywhere...birds and animals enjoying the summer!

 |
The water in the fall cools down and reflects our
beautiful autumn colors - maples and birch mixed in with the
evergreens. Fishing is fantastic. A boat tour to Kettle Falls or Crane Lake is awe-inspiring.

 |
Winter brings us "hard water." Snowmobile the
marked lake trails for miles and miles. Hit the powder in the
bays.
100's of miles of land trails.
Watch that wolf trot across the ice to an island, the eagles
fishing in the open streams. |
The waters
of Voyageurs make up nearly 84,000 acres of the 218,000 park.
Run from Kabetogama to Kettle Falls.
Portage into Rainy Lake there,
if you like. Then to Crane Lake. Swing up to Grassy Bay
on your way home and see
the cliffs - unbelievable. Back to
the Ash River and up to the Falls. Stop at a resort for a
great meal before heading
back to Kab to see that sunset that you've
heard so much about. What a trip. And you can do this
year 'round.
